2011

Founded in Karlsruhe, Germany

In 2011, Vesa Klumpp, Dr. Frederik Beutler, and Dr. Felix Sawo founded Knowtion UG in Karlsruhe after successfully graduating at the Insitute of Intelligent Sensor-Actuator-Systems (ISAS) of the renowned Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

They established Knowtion with a clear mission: to deliver high-quality software solutions for complex systems. Early success was driven by strong industry partnerships in aviation and a passion for solving mathematical challenges with algorithms.

Deepening Expertise and Building Trust

Building on a track record of success, we steadily grew a loyal customer base in the aerospace industry by delivering numerous high-impact projects and earning a reputation for technical excellence and reliability in safety-critical software development.

Strategic Transition and New Impulses

In 2020, Dr. Thomas Kopfstedt took over the shares of Felix Sawo and joined as a new shareholder who brought fresh momentum to our development. His strategic vision and entrepreneurial mindset laid important groundwork for the growth phase that followed — both structurally and in terms of market expansion.

Merger with Shiratech Solutions Ltd.

In 2021, we joined forces with Shiratech Solutions Ltd., marking a major turning point in our journey. As part of the merger, we rebranded as ShiraTech-Knowtion. At the time, we were a small team of thirteen people — with big ambitions.

Rapid Growth and Market Expansion

Since the merger, we’ve experienced rapid growth — scaling our team to over 30 professionals and expanding our reach into new industries. To support this momentum, we’ve relocated twice within Karlsruhe to accommodate our growing team. While we’ve broadened our customer base, we continue to serve our long-standing aviation clients with the same dedication.
